BTP Recommended Events

We are working with the Daily Bruin on a "Transfer App" with a calendar that will be downloadable to your SmartPhone. It will list transfer events across campus, from many departments. Suggested events and Departmental Schedules (scroll down) for Spring 2014 are:

  • Spring Activities Fair: 4/3
  • Opening of Powell Library Inquiry Labs: 4/17
  • STOMP Transfer Conference: April 25
    • STOMP (Student Transfer Opportunity and Mentor Program), along with Undergraduate Admissions, is bringing future Bruin Transfers to UCLA to aid community college students interested in transferring.  The plan is to empower future Bruin Transfers by providing key information that will make their CC experience productive, thus making them more competitive for admissions. Attendees to the Transfer Conference include many low income, first generation, and non-traditional students. Future Bruins: RSVP here!  Current Bruins: Invite your community college friends to attend!  Graduated Bruins: come back and connect with your friends!  Volunteer to answer questions at the BRC

  • Transfer Appreciation Day from ORL 5/1
    • Transfer Appreciation Day is a full day on The Hill that spreads awareness and encourages appreciation for the transfer student population at UCLA

    • You and your family are invited to come to UCLA from 1-5pm to ask your questions, take a tour, and get excited about Bruin Transfer Pride
  • Tau Sigma Transfer Honors Society Induction Ceremony: May 22

Enormous Activities Fair

Campus involvement = transfer student success.

That especially means you, commuting students.

This is the one time all year that ALL campus student groups, departments, resources, study abroad agencies, frats & sororities, clubs, sport teams, etc. will be in one place for 4 hours. It should be called the Enormous Time Saver (you won't have to hunt them down individually to ask your questions, and you can compare groups on site). Take the day off from work for this one. It's worth it.

At First Cite: Citation Strategies for Transfer Students

If you're not sure how to cite your sources, avoid making mistakes that could lead to allegations of plagiarism!  Unsure which citation style to use?  Most LS&A professors will accept APA, MLA, or Chicago styles, as long as you’re consistent (but always ask your professors if they have a preference)
